How It Works

We believe how you make somethingreveals as much as what you make.

Philosophy

Most competitions focus exclusively on the final product. A polished piece wins, regardless of whether it came together through genuine struggle and growth or was produced with unlimited resources and minimal creative challenge.

Flare Process Review takes a different approach. We evaluate competitors on their creative journey—the decisions they made, the iterations they went through, the problems they solved.

Equity is central to our mission. By valuing process over polish, we level the playing field for creators who lack access to expensive equipment, professional mentorship, or industry connections. Your thinking matters more than your budget.

Process accounts for 40% of your total score.

What We Evaluate

01

Decision-making

Why did you cut here? Why this transition? Why this music? We want to understand the reasoning behind your creative choices.

02

Iteration

Show us version 1, 2, and 3. How did your work evolve? What did you change and why? Growth matters more than perfection.

03

Problem-solving

Every project has constraints and challenges. How you work through them—limited footage, tight deadlines, technical issues—reveals your skill.

04

Technical craft

Clean execution matters. But it's only part of the story. We look at how your technical skills serve your creative vision.

Evaluation Process

Your submission goes through a rigorous two-stage review to ensure fair and thorough evaluation.

Stage 1

Screening Committee

A dedicated committee reviews all submissions to verify eligibility and select finalists. Every entry receives consideration before advancing.

Stage 2

Creator Jury

Finalists are scored by a jury of working creators using our published rubric. Multiple judges evaluate each submission. Scores are averaged automatically.
